2021 VICTORIAN INTERSCHOOLS SNOWSPORTS MULTICLASS EVENT

Our next event is the 2021 Victorian Interschool Snowsport Champointships Multiclass Event, being held from the evening of Sunday 22nd through Wednesday 25th August, at Mt Buller.

 

This event includes a Disabled Wintersport Australia (DWA) faciliated development camp, team dinner function, the Giant Slalom ski race and award presentations.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

1. To be eligible for the championship race event, the competitor must meet one or more of the following criteria:

​

  • Attend a specialist school – Independent or state government 

  • Attend a mainstream state government school and receive funding under PSD

  • Attend a catholic or independent mainstream school and receive funding to support their specific learning needs

  • Be a member of Special Olympics Victoria

2. Competitors must also have the capability to:

​

  • Independently stand on skis/snowboard;

  • Ski/ride unassisted, confidently and safely on blue runs (e.g. Mt Buller Little Spur, Shakey Knees runs);

  • Shift from snowplough to parallel (skiers); 

  • Hockey stop (skiers) / stop confidently on a blue run at speed; and

  • Ride a chairlift independently (e.g. Mt Buller Fox chair) 

Welcome & equipment Hire

Ski Hire and Group welcome will occur at 5 pm on Sunday 22nd August. Athletes will receive a Multiclass Polar Fleece Vest.

All athletes requiring ski hire will be looked after by the wonderful staff at Black Mountain.

DWA Training & Race Preparation Camp

Entrants have an opportunity to participate in the 2-day DWA development camp at Mt Buller on the 23rd - 25th August.

​

There is a limit to participant numbers for the camp and no late entries will be accepted. Register quickly if you are keen! 

Multiclass Dinner & BiB Presentation

The Presentation Dinner will be held at 6pm on Tuesday, 25th August at the Ski Club of Victoria. We are planning for a special guest speaker to attend and race bibs will also be presented at the dinner.

The deadline to book is Tuesday 27th July 2021.

Muticlass GS Race & Presentations

On 25th August, the Multiclass GS Ski race will be held on Burnt Hut Spur around midday (course inspection and then race). Exact timing TBA.

Presentations will be held at the Sports Hall at Alpine Central.
